10 week old baby, still hungry?

10 week old baby
My baby Erin asked:

my daughter? 10 weeks old and I recently made solely on cow milk and pi? hungry child in Group 2 of the gate, d? at its 7 ounces every 4 hours, you still sleep through the night but she doesn 't seem satisfied even if I put food on hungry, she wants to be fed to every 3 hours. I think you should put her up to 8oz or what should I do? the cow and gate? milk formula. Group 2 is for babys that occur below but 6 months? pi? hunger usual. has not been a problem with growth and? far away from it? 11lb 6oz and was 2 weeks ago what he weighed in with that He always? went to 4 hours between feeds I have not to breast feed and do not ever have problems with the formula! If the food to the marking of 3 hours, meaning fails half asleep, so I do not see the point in time because you? then the rest is going to be wasted because? not wake up in time refine it.

why don’t you ask a doctor?

Just feed her as much as she wants. If she is wanting it, she needs it. She is trying to grow.

at 10 weeks old your baby should only be drinking breast milk or formula… and they should be fed on demand. Babies know when they are hungry and they will let you know… look for signs such as chewing on their first, opening their mouth and turning their head, crying, etc..

I have no idea what any of those foods are but a baby is not to be on cows milk until their first birthday. Also, if a baby is hungry, feed her. If you think your baby is overeating, call your pediatrician. A 10 week old baby should eat every couple of hours so the schedule is fine. Supply and demand!

at 3 months my babies were on solids, maybe try her on a bit of that? or if you think that’s too early try the 8oz, if she still doesent seem satisfied try talking to your public health nurse

    good luck =}

Her tummy is nowhere big enough to handle 7oz. Look at her little fist, hold it next to a measuring cup. That’s how big her tummy is! So of course she needs to eat very frequently, every 3 hours is more like the maximum time between feedings. It’s very, very very normal to feed an infant every 3 hours. It’s much better for them to have less amount but more often.
Whatever you do, don’t give cereal. Her digestive system isn’t equipped to handle formula (even if she seems fine, her body was developed to digest formula), and she lacks enzymes needed to digest anything other than breastmilk still. It’s really hard for her system to digest cereal—which is why it can make them seem full longer–and it irritates her insides, which is why it increases the risk of allergies (along with all the other risks associated with giving solid foods too early).

The rule of thumb is about 3 oz per pound of body weight. So if your baby weighs 10 pounds, she should have about 30 oz of formula in a 24-hour period. Divide that over six feedings (or however many she takes per day), and that would be about 5 ounces per feeding. Babies don’t usually get up to 8 oz a feeding until they’re several months old.

Does she suck her bottles down very quickly? Just like adults, it takes about 20 minutes for the stomach to tell the brain it’s had enough. Try switching to a low-flow (or at least a lower-flow) nipple and stop to burp her every half ounce or so. If you make the feeding last longer, she’ll be more likely to feel full once she’s done.

up her ozs again and see what happens she might need to go on the next step up in formula she will let you know if she is satisfied with that and if she isnt then cut her back to the lower ounce

Hey there!! I would try 8oz with her and it probably will help her out more, babies are growing so much and eating and sleeping is the best for them. She’s at the right weight so go ahead and try the 8oz. My son is 7 weeks tomorrow and is at 5-6 onces every 3 sometimes 2.5 hours. He’s a growing weed, he’s already at 24 inches I know when he’s hungry and I don’t wait I will give him the food when he needs it. Maybe if you want I heard you can add cereal to their milk to fufill their tummies more if you want. Just have to find the right stuff so it goes through the nipple hole. Congrats on your baby and good luck :)

my baby is 10 weeks old, and i give her 6oz of cow and gate 2 every 4 hours, she does sometimes cry a bit early, but i try to take her mind off it until she reaches 4 hours, i’m afraid i mite over feed her. she seems pretty happy with the quantity tho.

    dont judge!

My daughter is 22 weeks and she had 4oz milk every 4 hours or 3 hours. but i also give her some food. every baby is different. i wouldnt increase your daughters milk as she is still too young for that amount. i would talk 2 a health visitor next time you take her there.

My son’s on SMA white stage 2 milk, and he’s always gone 3 hours between feeds, even when I moved from stage 1 to stage 2 milk. He’s now 14 weeks and takes 8oz every 3 hours. I don’t think every 3 hours is a bad amount of time to go between feeds, it just mean she’ll sleep longer at night as she’s “tanked up” during the day.

How much is she taking every three hours? At 10 weeks my son was on 7oz hungry baby milk every 3 hours. So that’s normal to me.

i have a hungry baby 9 weeks old i have gone against health visitor and started him on baby food but he was taking 12 0z of aptimil group 2 (extra hungry milk) every 4 hours but sleeping through the night he is 12 lb 7 oz as of last friday and was 10lb 6 oz at birth.you could try to go up to 8 oz but that doesn’t always work as my little one was clearing that within three days and it got a bit silly he now has two ‘meals’ a day and 6oz of formula every five hours we also give him 60 mls of baby juice made up to 5 oz with cooled boiled water between feeds and he is still growing and gaining weight but this was all done on the advise of my gp. also ask your gp for colief drops this seemed to reduce the need for more milk and helped us to drop back down to 6oz. on the side of you tub of cow&gate there should feeding advice don’t go by the age found that out the hard way go by weight i.e. for apitamil my baby should be on 6oz between five feeds for weight but for age 5oz between 6 feeds ove the course of 24 hours
