11 week old baby, fever?

11 week old baby
termite choking on the splinters asked:

had its first shots today and I was warned about a possible fever, but they told me not to go inside unless it 's 100.4. well, about an hour ago, felt really hot. I noticed that he had been 4 hours since i gave the last time its Tylenol, so I gave another dose and I checked his temp. was 100.6! I have the power and I tried to cool it already? any, in hopes that it would be lowered

    Phew! Thank god I don’t vaccinate. Shit scares me. I would take her especially if you are that worried about it. Take her. Better safe then sorry. Good luck.

    Take her to the hospital. She is a baby, you can never be too careful, high temperatures over a sustained period of time can cause brain damage, and worse, death. Don’t ask here, you really don’t have time to wait for answers that could be fatal ones.

    And a note to Misty, I heard a good saying from a medical professional, “Only vaccinate the children you wish to keep.”

    And please don’t put a child with a fever in a warm bath!!!! Tepid is okay, but anything more will raise the body temperature even more!

    I would not worry that much baby’s can carry a higher fever than an adult. I would just keep a close eye on her. She will let you know if she get’s worse. I went though this with my two and let me tell ya with the first one I would wake up in the middle of the night just to check on him.. But every time they got there shots they would get a little fever. As for her being sleepy lets hope that she was just wound up from the shots and didn’t nap as much as she would have during the day. Hope this helps a little

    infants can get ill so easy, its normall, don’t panic dear,just increase her fluid intake or if ur breastfeeding that would be much better cause mothers milk increase baby’s immunity, also worm bath can help, do take her to a pediatretionist

    Stay calm, that’s normal.
    Take away all her clothes so she can cool off. Leave only the diaper. Don’t worry if it’s cold in your place and her skin become cold.

    My moto : no blood, no hospital.
    BUT, if she cry too much during the night, if the temperature rise to much and you’re freaking out, go to the hospital IN THE MIDDLE of the night — don’t wait the morning because there is less poeple and you wait long hours.

    {P.S. : I am french, i got two boys — 5 and 3 and I am NOT a doctor at all. }

    Why not call your pediatrician’s service and have him/her call you back to tell you what you should do. If they don’t call back fast enough call the local emergency room and ask to talk to a nurse there. Tell them about the Tylenol not doing the job.

    You don’t have to panic. When babies have a fever they are very sleepy and sometimes have heavier breathing.
