12 Answers & Suggestion to “11 week old baby with temperature of 38.7?”
Why are you on here if you have an 11 week old baby with a high temperature??
Ring NHS direct for advice, high temperature in a baby can be very dangerous.
I would say keep an eye on him, make sure he is not too over warm (if he already has a temp) if his temp reaches 39 then I would call NHS direct if in the UK 0845 4647
my mums had three babys and she said use a cool sponge/flannel not too cold though to help bring the temperture down thats what the doctor always told her.
if it gets worse during the night then call over a doctor.
or go in the morning especially if the flannel doesnt bring the temperature down
good luck

is he alive? if he’s got that temp i think you should call a coroner. you need to either change the batteries on the thermometer, or learn how to use it properly if he happens to be alive still.
(edit…omg i’m so sorry, i thought you meant farenheit!!! lol. ok i guess you’re baby will be ok after all. whew! i was wondering what kind of crazy woman is this!? but in celcius – i’d not panick, just breastfeed extra and stay extra close to him, then take to the doc if it doesn’t get better in a day. )
How long has it been since you’ve given him the calpol. At a temp of 38.7 (which is above the threshold for home treatment) especially if your baby is not responding to the fever medication, you should have him seen. He may just have an upper respiratory infection, but it could be RSV or another, more serious condition and he should be seen if the fever does not subside.
In the mean time, keep him cool, but not cold (no shivering) and do not overheat him with blankets, hats or warm clothing. Remove socks & hats.
go to the doctors or hospital with him tonight, babies with a high temperature can become seriously ill in a matter of a couple of hours, the temperature can cause convulsions. hope all goes well.
too high for comfort mrs take him in and get him checked out it takes up to 15 min for calpol or nurofen to take effect. try bathing him in a cool bath until help arrives

If he is 38,7 then he is really hot or dead depending on if that if Fahrenheit or not. In either case take the baby to the doctor quickly.
