11 week old with a cold?

11 week old baby
Nickynackynoo asked:

My newborn to 11 weeks old has interfered my cold, has a runny nose, irritated throat and it is very bad. Our doctor told us that just use saline drops in his nose, but they just make her cry and don 't seem to help much. She doesn 't have a temperature, but it is really miserable. To make matters worse, the larynx has a very small (I think, of the larynx floscia SA, but the doctor says it 's nothing to worry about) live in Greece and don' t have all the medicine available in the United Kingdom, can anyone recommend it to all natural remedies that can help or do we simply guide the storm? My brotehr came from the United Kingdom and has led some calpol, it 's great stuff, saline drops haven' t run, but the calpol seems to do something. The child is not much better but 100%.

HMM ITS NATURAL DONT PANIC IT WILL BE NORMAL FOR HER VERY SOON OR ELSE TAKE HER TO THE BIRTH HOSPITAL AND ASK THE CONSALTANT ABOUT THIS AND IT WILL BE RESOLVED…

  2. JC Says:

There’s not really anything else safe for a baby. The over the counter medecines only make the Mom feel better, an nat’l stuff is chancy since you can’t regulate the concentration.
Keep using the drops just before you nurse her. It does help, just takes a while. Get a vaporizer and use that; move it from room to room with her.
And cuddle and hold her a LOT – nobody likes being sick :-(
    Hope she’s better soon!

Apply Hot or Cold Packs Around Your Congested Sinuses
sleep with an extra pillow under your head
    dont fly unless necesary

you dont really need that last one

  4. mrs.brothers mommie to a preemie Says:

In the bathroom hot steam from the shower will help break up the junk. That s what my doc recommends for my preemie dont give her any medications because she is too young other than tylenol. see if you can find some vapor bath for babies dont put her in it but run a hot bath sit in the bath room it will help clear the junk and soothe her a bit.

Keep using the drops – they do work – ignore the screams when giving them her, I know it’s difficult but I’ve been there many times! The drops are great for doing their job even if it seems unkind to the baby. My 4 yr old asks for them herself now and does the job all alone (8 yr old still screams!)

Plenty of fluids – the cold will pass. You live in a high humidity place just like me – some days the humidity here is 90% – the colds will be frequent – avoid contact with too many people while she’s a baby …. this is easy when it’s the first child – going to kindergarten brings a whole lot more fun with illnesses.
Please stop thinking UK would do things differently/or better they don’t – my youngest got a bad cold at 6 months in UK – they had nothing but ‘medicine’ to give her which really is no use at all. I had to ask the pharmacy to make me up some drops like I use in Greece. They were impressed that I refused all so called ‘miracle’ medicines and used the ‘natural’ approach.
Watch for a temperature- if one appears get her back to the docs – put some faith in Greek doctors or you have a very difficult time ahead!

Ask someone in UK to send some of those drops you put on a pillow (capsules) – I always had a pkt of them – can’t remember whether they are ok for such a young baby though. Don’t break them onto her pillow though but put onto a hankie – place the hankie in her room but not close to her to help her breath.

Please limit visitors – especially with children. She’ll be fine – keep up the drops and ;loads of breast milk.

Oh dear, it seems as if it’s all been happening for you and your little one. Sounds as if you’re doing well, even though you’re feeling a bit isolated.
My little girl is 8 weeks on Wed, and although she hasn’t caught a cold, I’ve got the calpol at the ready, just in case.
It comes in sachet and medicine form and tastes of strawberries. my sister, who has a14 week old and a 14 month old swears by it for their colds, flus and bugs, of which there have been many.
I don’t know if you can get it in Greece, or if you know of anyone in the UK who can send it. If not, you can buy it from ebay, or online retailers like boots.
Also, I found this baby vac thing on ebay, which you attach to your hoover and suck out your baby’s bogies – seems a bit odd to me but you never know, it may work?
Also, I found this herbal potion that can be used as a vapouriser
Good luck – hope that your baby gets better soon – just got to go and change a smelly bum x
