  2. treehugger Says:

all babies eat different amounts, some babies will be in the 90th percentile just as some will be in the 10th percentile. Don’t worry, if your baby is hungry feed her

If your dr didn’t seem concerned then don’t worry

Don’t worry about over-feeding. A baby will tell you when it’s hungry and when it’s full. You just love your little girl and give her what she needs and everything will be fine.

    Good luck!

Okay babies are different from each other. If baby is hungry, you feed her. If your doctor were worried he would say something. When my middle girl was about 6 months she was not gaining as she should have and I had to start supplementing the breast milk with formula (fortuneately she liked formula either that or she was very hungry). She is a very large child she is as big as her 4 year old sister. Please note she is not fat – she is very tall. 3 lbs is not a lot for a baby to gain in that amount of time. If you are worried about her growth, ask the doctor when you take her in again for her 2 month (she will get shots – so go buy some tylenol infant now – it is not fun to go get this after the doctor visit, because the baby is miserable from the shots, but don’t give her any until after the appointment when the nurse gives you a chart telling you how much she should have). For now, sit back, enjoy your baby. Love her, cuddle her and play with her. She is fine.

very normal usually babies tend to double in size by the time the are 6-8 weeks old so don’t worry shes fine. I had the opposite problem with my twins my little girl wouldn’t gain weight she didn’t double in size now when that happens then you should worry. If she starts gaining excessive weight then worry but she doing well just relax and enjoy her have fun and revel in every min of it cause it all goes way to fast, my first is getting ready to turn 5 and go to kind and it makes me want to cry. If shes hungry feed her don’t ever deny her, it will all even out and your doing great.

your doing whats right! babys grow tremendously during there first 3 months of life..

my daughter was 6lbs 6oz..she dropped down to 5lbs 12oz a week after birth..and regained it all back by about 5 weeks she was about 9lbs.

if shes hungry….. feed them..if she isnt spitting up or gassy/colicky..then all is well.

Be thankful she is such a good eater…she will be sleeping through the night before you know it at this right..my eldest was like this and she was sleeping through the night…10pm to 6am by the time she was 7 weeks old..she was also on 7 oz bottles every 4 hours with some cereal in the morning

don’t worry about overfeeding her, at her age she eats what she needs, she’s not old enough to try and overeat. my kids’ pediatrician told me they eat what they need and that’s it. my daughter was 9lbs 3oz when she was born and at 11 weeks she is only 11lbs now and she is drinking 5oz every 2and 1/2 to 3 hours. i think babies don’t start overeating until they are on solid foods and they want more taste or the parents keep trying to make them eat those last 2 spoonfulls when they are already filled up.

  12. amber h Says:

My daughter was born at 8 lbs 2 oz and 4 days later when i took her to the doctor she was 9 lbs 2oz. Its fine. Babies usually gain 2 and 1/2 times their birth weight by the time they are 1 year.

That’s alot to gain in only 5 weeks, but dont worry about it if your doctor didn’t say anything.

Sounds like my oldest son who is now 8. He gained one lb per week for the longest time. He is now VERY healthy and though he is always the tallest in his class he is by no means heavy. Just tall.

Your doctor will advise you if there is a concern. Until then, you just have a healthy baby :)
