Yeah its THAT much better ... and then some.

Do what you choose just don't delude yourself into thinking its exaggerated. What benefit does anyone have from exaggerating it? Who profits from breastfeeding? Plenty profit from people not breastfeeding.

Look I'd say you should try it and see how you feel about it. I started breastfeeding my two kids, but didnt have much milk and my kids seemed hungry after a few weeks -with my frist son-about 3 mos with my daughter, I had gotten so used to formula feed that I wasnt liking it that much, plus not much milk supply. Both of my children are completely bonded with me, from day one, they are healthy and happy children. I know a lot of women who also formula fed their children and are great moms with the most wonderful kids.
So do what you think is best for you.
Bonding comes by spending time with your baby, even if you formula feed.
Best of Luck!

Wow, lots of answers. It is best, but it is also not for everyone. You have to be dedicated to it. Pumping is another option, but it is time consuming. There are plenty of formulas out there that are great and science has got it pretty close to breast milk. If you don't want to, don't feel guilty and don't let anyone make you feel bad. I breast fed both my kids for the first week and then switched to formula. They are perfectly healthy.

I highly recommend trying it. Breastmilk is sooo much better for your babies stomach. It's easier to digest. also it is sooo much easier to BF than it is to get up mix formula, wash and steralize bottles, heat bottles, feed baby, and start ALL over again, there is nothing like trying to mix and heat a bottle at 2 am, or when you have to wash and steralise them at 2 in the morning. Much easier to BF. My daughter now refuses as she has realised the bottle is much easier. I would give anything for her to BF again. For example I was just out to lunch with my sister, I planned on being home early so I didnt take a bottle, but had not pumped so my breast were full of milk. I ended up being much later than planned my daughter was hungry, but no bottle to feed her and she refused to take the breast. If I could have breast fed her, she would have been happily fed and I could have stayed to visit with my sister. Instead I had a baby who thought she was starving and had to leave.

Yes, it is better (as well as cheaper and more convenient), but formula isn't exactly rat poison or anything.

Breast milk – the miracle food for your little one – contains the perfect balance of nutrients, contributes antibodies to protect your baby from disease, and continually changes to meet the nutritional needs of your growing child. But many women decide, for many reasons, to supplement breast-feeding or exclusively formula-feed from birth.

Organic Formulas:
The benefits of organic baby formula are fairly straightforward. Organic baby formulas are made with certified organic ingredients and the makers must meet organic certification standards. This means that dairy based baby formula are made with milk produced by cows that have not been fed with pesticide sprayed feeds or injected with growth hormones. The major drawback of organic formula however is it can get quite expensive.

Infant Formula:
Unlike regular cow’s milk, Infant Formulas are formulated after breast milk and contain the recommended percentages of protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals. In fact, health care experts recommend cow’s milk based, iron-fortified Infant Formula as the next best alternative to breast milk because it offers a complete source of nutrition for your baby during his/her first year.

If you do choose to formula-feed, hold your baby close, cherish those special feeding moments and feel secure knowing that no matter what form of feeding you choose, it will provide a nutritious choice for you and your healthy, happy baby.

While there may be better formulas out there than ever before, BREAST MILK is BETTER. The fact is that nothing can replace that your milk was special made just for your human baby. There are problems with formula that go beyond the norm. Have you ever met a baby who developed a severe cow's milk allergy and was formula fed? I have. How about the baby who is allergic to soy? I have. The baby who cant handle all the iron in the formula and is constantly painfully constipated.

I have breastfed all 3 of my kids, and let me tell you EVERY time I rolled over at night and slept while the baby nursed I was SO glad I decided to breast feed. Honestly breastfeeding can be difficult, I had one horrible nurser, one great one, and one with problems, but after the first month it's alot of smooth sailing. No expensive formula runs, oops ran out in the middle of the night. No having to pack clean bottled water, and cans, worrying about giving it to them cold b/c you dont have a place to heat the water. No washing bottles day in and out. Not nearly as much spit-up, and breast milk spit-up doesnt stain like formula does. Have you ever seen and smelled a formula poopy diaper? FOUL, is all I can say. You can always tell the formula fed babies in the daycare by their poopy diapers. And wiping that stuff off is like trying to wipe off TAR. Not too mention the stomach discomfort of gas or constipation caused by the formulas. The average formula fed baby has been on 4 different kinds trying to find one that doesn't make baby sick or uncomfortable.

It's your choice, I have nothing against formula moms, but give it a real good try before you decide not too. Try it for a month, then if it still doesnt fit well for you, switch to formula. Some women feel weird at first because of the sexuality of their breasts, but I think for many of us that is normal esp with the first baby. I think if you tried it for a month, you'd be really happy with your experience and PROUD of yourself as a mother.

It has ingredients that protects the baby from being sick, from being allergic and so on. It is digested easier too.
Give it a try, you may even like it, if it doesn't feel right, you will switch to formula. If at least he gets some breast milk in the early months, that will protect him too.
