How do I try to stay healthy when pregnant?
I had my first pre natal visit at my OB today and she wants me to gain about 35 pounds which I know won’t happen since I only gained 18 with my son. My question is how do I keep in good physical shape and how I can eat better. What foods should I eat lot of? Any advice would help.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I saw a dietitian during my pregnancy. She advised me to eat lots of fresh fruit and veg, especially green leafy vegetables. She also told me to have lots of dairy, protein and carbs. I made sure I ate lots of yogurt, cheese, full cream milk, eggs and pasta. Ordinarily I would not eat these things or at least only eat the low fat varieties because they are rather fattening! But it is a good idea to revert back to the "full fat" varieties because your body needs the extra calories during pregnancy!

I was also told that the best exercise during pregnancy is walking and swimming. It is great for your health, and helps with joint and back ache.

eat what your body asks for. different stages of fetal development call for diffferent foods. For example when the brain is developing you might notice a desire for loads of protein. Listen to your body and your baby!
