We’ve found that if our daughter is swaddled, she sleeps better in her crib. We think it’s because she is still cuddled in and cozy. Try that. :) Hope it works!

You are not alone, my baby sleeps for only 30 minutes during the day as well, I think they are just at a very curious age. My daughter is 10 weeks old as well. Sometimes she will fall asleep in her bouncy chair or the swing, and I don’ t disturb her. However, at times, I will put her in her crib, and turn her mobile on, and she will fall asleep. I have just recently moved her from her bassinet to a crib, and she is starting to sleep better during the day. Are you planning to make the transfer soon, if so, that may help a bit.

My son only slept 30 min. at a time at that age. I’d suggest you get some books. The best way is to let them cry it out, but that is hard when you are a new parent.

My baby( now 4 months) has had a horrible napping schedule since she was born up until about 3 weeks ago. I tried everything from swaddling(she does not like being immobile) to car rides(she loves looking out the back window). The only time she slept, like your baby was in one of our arms. One day though i had her in her bouncer and i was vacuuming and she fell fast asleep, so i vacuumed the entire house twice so she could get a good 45 min. nap in. If nothing works, than just try to hang in there another month or two and he should start napping. My daughter now takes one morning nap and one evening nap. Best of luck! Please do not just let him cry it out! I was watching a show called dr.s where they were talking about how parents do that and they said that after about 5-10 min. of crying to hard that there is too much blood flowing to their head. It’s really not good for them, it’s a proven fact.

Do you get him to fall asleep in your arms and then put him down in his bassinet? If a baby wakes up in a new place they tend to cry and not go back to sleep. Try to comfort him in your arms and when he’s relaxed but not yet asleep, put him in his bassinet so that he can fall asleep there. Swaddling is a good way for him to feel secure, but not all babies like it. Swaddling can help my baby fall asleep but then I loosen the blanket so he can move his arms and legs (he tends to move his arms a lot when sleeping and cries if he is restricted). I also carry my baby around in a ring sling. He sleeps in it while I do stuff around the house. If I want to put him down, i just remove the sling from me, but keep him in it and put him down into his bassinet, he stays asleep because he’s still in the sling which he fell asleep in.

All the best. Hope you find something that works for you and your bubs.

At that age, my son was napping throughout the day in his swing or bouncer. At our bedtime, we would wrap him up like a burrito and lay him in his crib.
