I’m 33 wks 2 days and I had an ultrasound on Friday to measure the baby’s growth?

Elizabeth asked:

The tech told me that weighs 5 pounds 11 ounces. Now I know that the estimates of ultrasound for weight can be outside but it seemed interested and asked me if ster seeing my doctor today. I 'm. I do not see that up to 9-17. He said that the child should only be around 4 pounds. My original maturity with this pregnancy was October 9 but have moved to October 27 after my first ultrasound. Technology has said that the deadline think original is correct. Anyone encountered this? I know that probably will not move my due date. This first is my pregnancy and I do not know just what to think. I 'the VE tried to gestational diabetes and all returned very well with that. So that 's not a possibility as to why it is so big.

Chances are your due date is earlier…thats pretty big for 33 weeks.

Considering that a baby can put a pound on a week after a certain point. I wouldnt doubt if the first calculations were more accurate.

I had an ultrasound at 33 1/2 weeks and my son weighed 3lbs 11oz and was 14 inches long. I however only gained 11 pounds during my pregnancy. I had him at 35 weeks but in 2 weeks time he went from that weight to weighing 4lbs 15.6oz and 17 inches long when he was born.
(My due date was 9/14 but i had him 8/16)
Maybe your just going to have a big baby or maybe the date is wrong. See your doctor. Sounds like somebody is off on your due date. Count it back from your last period.

all babies develop differently in the womb that is why some babies are born full term only weighing 5 lbs and others 10lbs! dont worry about it if yo were negative for diabetes then the baby may just be big or the due date may really be off or the little guy is in a growth spurt! Relax as long as he’s healthy that’s all that matters.

The tech is probably right, earlier October is when you are due (does this add up correctly in your calculations?). I know when I was pregnant with my first I went for the same ultrasound (I was 40 weeks though) and they said that my baby was approx 9 lbs (so they decided to induce me the next morning because she was so large), but they said those measurements are normally off by a pound-usually down 1 lb.(my daughter came out 10lb 3.5oz). So you have 2 options here.. the due date can either be a few weeks sooner or they are off (which has proven to be possible in my case). I would probably go with the earlier due date, but if it doesn’t add up….

Third trimester ultrasounds are very inaccurate for dating purposes. When was the first ultrasound done? If it was done early ie. 8-10 weeks this is an extremely good for dating. How confident were you on your first day of your last period? We change dates when there is a 14 day discrepency between your menses and u/s. 9th vs 27th.
You may just have a healthy size baby.

Same thing happened to me but opposite they said he was too small and that I didnt have alot of amniotic fluid in my sac I ewas so scared and freaked out and all turned out fine Just go see your doctor and sont panic they will probably do another u/s to compare sizes thats what they did with me and then they will determine the due date correctly good luck:)

She is an ultrasound tech, not a doctor. Your dates could be off, the baby may be at a growth plateau and not gain alot in the next few weeks. It is nothing to be concerned about.
Consider how big your were and the father at birth. I have three children. 5 lbs 6 oz, 9 lbs 8 oz and 7 lbs 10 oz. The heaviest was my daughter and the lighest was my son who now plays football. All were normal pregnancies and normal births.

When I was pregnant, they told me my baby was almost 8 pounds. When she was born she was only 5 pounds 13 ounces. Don’t rely on their “guestimate” too much, they aren’t always right. Every thing will turn out okay, don’t worry.

    Good luck.

There is nothing to worry about. All babies grow at different rates. Most likely they will move your due date back to the original one. Congrats!! If you are worried the discuss it with your OBGYN…most likely he/she will bring it up anyways!

I am thinking that the first due date was the right one. Don’t worry too much, honestly, I think that it is great that your baby is big and healthy. But, I always worry about my babys weight. It’s natural.
