Lee Lee asked:
him. 1.5oz is getting to me, I know this because I gave him to see that what is there and give another Formula 1.5oz. You 3oz every 2-3 hours enough for a 2 weeks old or more should he have? Thanks for the comments, no bad answers so thanks. I forgot to add, he weight 7lbs8oz hours

So long as he is gaining weight and thriving, I wouldn’t worry.
But – just a suggestion – could you not express enough to give him in a bottle, or for Daddy to give him, rather than using formula. Breast is sooo much better for him
And the less he takes from you, the less you will produce.

That sounds about normal but since every baby is different-You can just try to give him a little more and see if he is wanting it.
If you are expressing your milk, you might want to try pumping extra like between feedings and for a longer time to really get a good milk supply going.

It should be enough. Every baby is different. What you can do is give him the 1.5oz of breast milk and make a bottle with 4.oz of formula and give it to him. See how much he will drink. That is the best way to find out if he is drinking enough.

Every baby is different, and if he is still hungry he will let you know. If all he needs is 3oz then that is fine, especially being only 2 weeks old. My baby was only drinking 4 oz bottles until he was almost 6 months old and he is a big baby….thats all he wanted/needed. He is 9 months now and only takes 5-6 oz. Good Luck

I think that about 3 oz should be enough. Keep in mind that babies are more effective than pumps, so he may actually be getting more than what comes out when you express.
The rule of thumb is that a baby should get 2.5 ounces of breastmilk or formula for every pound of bodyweight. So multiply his weight by 2.5, and then divide by the number of feedings he takes. That will give you the amount per feeding. This holds true until the baby starts solids.

my daughter has just had twin girls, they were both big babies, they have about 4 oz per feed, all babies are different, if he is gaining wheight then your doing fine, also ask your health visitor. and enjoy

3oz is good enough but dont feed him every 2-3 hrs. my friends mom who works as a nurse for babies said feed them when they wakeup especially if they are a sleep alot baby. but if you think your feeding methods are better go ahead and do it your way. or talk to your doctor or health doctor.

3 oz is about right– in fact its pretty darn good! MIne was closer to 2 and a half at two weeks . By 1 month, he’ll be closer to 4 oz.
FYI, your production changes quite a bit with demand…it can go up and down a lot. See if he is still acting hungry when he is done on the breast and then offer him formula.

Doing a combination is fine. I did that w/ my 3rd child. I breastfeed him 1 feeding then the next time formula. I started him 2 to 3 oz of formula. They say its good feeding new borns every 2 hrs.
I know you have heard it before that breastfeeding is the best which it is, because what your going to feed youself is heathly food and it goes to the baby. Why are you doing both?
Is it because you don’t know if you would be able to breastfeed your baby for the 1st yr. So you have a back up. Which its fine. But if you can breastfeed for the yr, you will feel great about it. I breastfeed my 4th child til she was 20mths, now she is 23 mths old. What ever reason you have, is your buisness.
Has long has the baby is gaining “lbs” or even just “oz”
then your doing great!!!

mam please stop feeding your baby with formula. more you breast feed, more you will produce it. Especially feeding at nights will let you produce adequate amound of milk. İf your baby looses weight than you may start to feed with formula. The sucking technics of nipple and the bottle is totally different. Your baby may quit sucking, reject your breast milk.
stop bottle immediatly

He is most probably getting more than 1.5 ounces if you feed him at the breast. pumps are not as effective as babies.
Just be careful because every bottle of fake milk you give causes your milk supply to decrease. Your body needs your baby’s hunger signals to know how much and when to produce.

if you want to breastfeed there is no need to breastfeed and then “top up” with a bottle, this will only lessen the milk supply. Breastfeed on demand, it may be every hour, or every 2 or longer, but as long as baby is gaining weight with plenty of wet nappies that is all that matters. by giving him formula you are doing more harm than good (for your breastfeeding I mean) good luck
