I was in my living room sweeping the floor the other day. My nine month old baby, stared at the broom for a minute and then crawled into the kitchen to get the dustpan. My question is, is that normal? When do babies usually start making associations like that.

It all depends on the child no 2 children achieve the same goals at the same time. For example i have 3 boys and my oldest started walking at 12 months the other at 14 and my youngest at 8. I would say that your baby is a little advance in this particular area and i would be very proud of that.

Children/Babies understand a lot more than you think they do. I believe your baby knows exactly what she/he was doing. Especially if the baby has seen you do the floors before. Never underestimate a child’s brain! =)

That’s too cute, you got a little helper. I was sitting at the lake the other day with my husband and our 8 month old and my husband was showing him how to throw rocks in, so he was watching my husband, and then we were handing him rocks to throw to and he did it. Every time he saw my husband pick up a rock he would watch the water to see where it landed.
Also he has learned to clap his hands I think it’s because he learned if he does it we get really excited and clap to..
I hope your baby keeps up the help, that will be useful when he/she is older`
